ABOUT 

Scissortail Sips is named after the Oklahoma national bird. We feature a bird scavenger hunt inside our venue. We are located in the Heart of Sapulpa. Our front door is located on Hobson across from the beloved James Calley Brewing. Our Alleyway entrance is located in the alleyway close to Dewey Street where the famous Route 66 Christmas Chute and walking distance  from where our favorite downtown businesses are located.

Scissortail Sips is a great place to rent for birthday parties, bridal showers, business meetings, family gatherings, and Ladies Tea. We are next door to The Carriage House which is a unique antique & vintage shop. We are in walking distance to Crossroads Cookery, Route 66 Vintage Market, CTX coffee, along with many other wonderful eateries and unique shops. Downtown Sapulpa not only is on the famous ROUTE 66 but it's become one of the most beloved Christmas towns. It reminds many visitors of strolling through the sweetest real life Hallmark Town. Hallmark towns are only in the Hallmark movies but Sapulpa's downtown is the real deal.

ABOUT THE SCISSORTAIL

The scissortail bird symbolizes adaptability, grace, and the arrival of spring. It is also seen as a symbol of  hope and new beginnings. Culturally, it represents the state of Oklahoma, where it is the official state bird, and is a beloved symbol of the Texas countryside. 

Why the Scissortail is so unique?

  • Adaptability and resourcefulness: The bird's quick and acrobatic flight, as well as its willingness to nest in human-made structures, represents adaptability and the ability to make use of available resources.

  • Spring and new beginnings: Its appearance is a well-known sign that spring has arrived. For some, it symbolizes hope, joy, and fresh starts.

  • Grace and agility: The scissortail's distinctive "sky dance" and aerial maneuvers are seen as symbols of grace and agility.

  •  In some Native American traditions, the scissortail is considered a symbol of good luck. 

  • God's Provision and Care: Jesus pointed to birds to teach about God's provision and to address human anxiety. He noted that the birds do not sow or reap, yet God feeds them, emphasizing that God values people even more.

 

Oklahoma is home to many beautiful bird species, such as the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. It’s easily distinguished by its grey-colored head, pink-orange side and a tail longer than its body. Here are some facts about this Oklahoma symbol:

• The Scissortail became the official state bird in 1951.

• It’s become a symbol for the state license plate, a local park and many other Oklahoma logos.
